He has made an outstanding input into creation and development of new branches of science - physical and technical fundamentals of high power laser optics and adaptive optics, investigation of physical processes in a high volume self-controlled volume discharges, creation of high power continuous wave, pulsed and high repetition rate pulse-periodic laser systems, high intensity laser radiation interaction with matter, high power laser application for an effective protection of valuable objects and water surface cleaning from oil films, medical applications for UV lasers. He is the member of European and American Physical Society, SPIE, AIAA, American Society for QE and the member of specialized scientific council of Russia. He is a full member of Russian Academy of Natural Science and Academy of Engineering Sciences, member of the Presidium RANS. He is the laureate of State Prize of USSR (1982) and of Russia (2002).

Alex Rozhin received the M.S. degree in Physics from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev, Ukraine in 1998 and PhD degree in Solid State Physics from Institute for Semiconductor Physics, National Academy of Science of Ukraine in 2001. From 2001 to 2002, he was a Researcher with the Institute for Semiconductor Physics NASU, Ukraine. From 2002 to 2005 he was Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) & AIST Postdoctoral Fellow with National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan. From 2005 to 2009, he was a Senior Research Associate with the Centre for Advanced Photonics and Electronics, University of Cambridge, UK. Since 2009 he has been a Lecturer and a Senior Lecturer (2012) in Nanotechnology with the Aston University, UK. He is a co-governor of Nanotechnology Research Group and leader of Nanomaterials Photonics at Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies. Dr. Rozhin has published about 60 journal and 20 conference papers (including pioneering works on mode-locking of fibre and waveguide lasers by Carbon Nanotubes) in the area of photonic and nonlinear optical materials, fibre lasers, fibre communication devices, photonic sensors made 10 patent applications. Dr Rozhin’s research has been supported by a number of highly competitive grants from the Royal Society, British Council, BBSRC, NATO, FP7 EU, JSPS.

Rozhin’s current research interests span nanomaterials synthesis by laser ablation and wet chemistry route, nanomaterials surface functionalization, optical spectroscopy of nanomaterials, development of nanocomposites for photonic applications, solid-state physics and biophysics. He is working on designing and developing novel ultrafast fibre and waveguide lasers, polymer waveguides, signal regenerative filters, fibre and waveguide sensors, microfluidic devices.

Ching-Fuh Lin obtained the B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1983, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 1989 and 1993, respectively, all in electrical engineering. He is now the Director of Innovative Photonics Advanced Research Center (i-PARC) and a joint distinguished professor in the Graduate Institute of Photonics and Optoelectronics, Graduate Institute of Electronics Engineering, and Department of Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University. His major research area is in photonics, including organic-inorganic composites for light-emission devices and solar cells, single-crystal Si thin-film solar cells, Si-based photonics, and physics in broadband semiconductor lasers and optical amplifiers. He is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of SPIE, Member of Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials, and a member of OSA. He has published over 160 journal papers and 450 conference papers and holds more than 50 patents. He is also the sole author of two books, “Optical Components for Communications: Principles and Applications”, published by Kluwer Academic Publishers (USA 2004), and “Optics and Photonics: Fundamentals and Applications” (in Chinese, 2012), and co-authors a book, “Organic, Inorganic and Hybrid Solar Cells –Principles and Practice”, published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. and IEEE Press, 2012. He had obtained the Distinguished Research Award and several Class A Research Awards from National Science Council of Taiwan, ROC, and the Outstanding Electrical Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering. He and his students had also been granted the 18th Acer Research Golden Award, 18th Acer Research Excellent Award, 14th Acer Research Excellent Award, 6th Y. Z. Hsu Technology Invention Award, Collins Thesis Awards for years of 1998, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2012. Prof. Lin has served in the International Scientific Committee of 27th, 28th ＆ 29th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition and as the Chair of IEEE LEOS Chapter Taipei Section, the Board member of the 17th IEEE Taipei Section, and the Council member of the 10th Optical Engineering Society of ROC and Taiwan Photonics Society.

Dr. Peng-Sheng Wei received Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering Department at University of California, Davis, in 1984. He has been a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering of National Sun Yat-Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, since 1989. Dr. Wei has contributed to advancing the understanding of and to the applications of electron and laser beam, plasma, and resistance welding through theoretical analyses coupled with verification experiments. Investigations also include studies of their thermal and fluid flow processes, and formations of the defects such as humping, rippling, spiking and porosity. Dr. Wei has published more than 80 journal papers. He is a Fellow of AWS (2007), and a Fellow of ASME (2000). He also received the Outstanding Research Achievement Awards from both the National Science Council (2004), and NSYSU (1991, 2001, 2004), the Outstanding Scholar Research Project Winner Award from National Science Council (2008), the Adams Memorial Membership Award from AWS (2008), the Warren F. Savage Memorial Award from AWS (2012), and the William Irrgang Memorial Award from AWS (2014). He has been the Xi-Wan Chair Professor of NSYSU since 2009, and Invited Distinguished Professor in the Beijing University of Technology, China, during 2015-2017.

Vladimir V. Rumyantsev is Professor in Nanophysics Department at Donetsk National University (DonNU) and Head of Physics Technology Subdivision at A.A. Galkin Donetsk Institute for Physics and Engineering of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (DonIPE NANU). He received PhD in Physics (1988) from DonNU and Dr. Sci. in Solid State Physics (2007) from DonIPE NANU. He has authored/co-authored 3 books, 2 chapters in books and about 200 scientific publications. Prof. Rumyantsev is Co-coordinator of joint Russian-Ukrainian project (2012-2013) and Group Leader of International project in the framework of the European program FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IRSES (2013-2016), he is a member of the Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics as well as a member of the American Physical Society.

Current research interests include various aspects of solid state physics, crystallooptics, photonics; more particularly - theoretical study of the effects of disorder in quasi-two-dimensional nanofilms and layered structures caused by the propagation of electromagnetic and acoustic excitations, light-matter coupling in composite nanostructures.

Ailawadhi has expertise in the field of plasma cell disorders, specifically multiple myeloma and focuses on clinical drug development as well as a special interest in secondary data analysis looking at outcome disparities and healthcare economics. He has accumulated vast experience in the area of disparities in healthcare utilization and outcomes by patient race and ethnicity and how the management, access and effects of therapeutic interventions may be different for various patient subgroups. Several of his research projects focusing on healthcare economics, cost-effectiveness and outcome disparities have been recognized in the form of presentations at national and international meetings as well as peer-reviewed publications.

Konstantinos Papadopoulos is a physiotherapist.He holds an Msc degree in exerscise rehabilitation and a PhD degree in health care science with expertise in patellofemoral pain syndrome.
